GAA and LFGA Injury Benefit Funds

The Club pays annually into the GAA and LGFA Injury Benefit Fund. These funds provide registered players with the ability to submit claims for certain costs arising from injuries sustained during club-sanctioned games or training.

It’s important to highlight that these Funds are not insurance policies. Instead, it offers limited support only after a player has first exhausted all other avenues—such as private medical insurance, employer insurance, or insurance under a parent or guardian. Even then, the fund covers only part of the remaining expenses and is subject to caps, deductibles, and other limitations.

One of the most significant conditions of these schemes is the requirement that all injuries must be reported within 60 days (GAA) or 8 weeks (LGFA). Claims submitted outside this window are not eligible for consideration, and the GAA and LGFA administrators apply this rule very strictly. Because of this, we ask players, parents and guardians to initiate a claim as soon as an injury occurs, even if supporting documents can only be provided later:

For a claim that occurred during a GAA-sanctioned activity, submit it directly through your Foireann account here’s how

For a claim for an injury that occurred during a LGFA-sanctioned activity, submit the preliminary form, found here, to the Club’s LGFA secretary, email: ranelaghgaels.dublin@lgfa.ie

Camogie Insurance Coverage

The Camogie Association does not administer its own injury scheme similar to the GAA or the LGFA. Members taking part in camogie activities must have proper insurance coverage—such as private medical insurance, employer insurance or insurance under a parent or guardian.

For members who do not have access to such coverage, the Club will take on a camogie personal accident policy for them. Please contact the Club Treasurer for more information, email: treasurer.ranelaghgaels.dublin@gaa.ie
