A big thank you to the 40 golfers that turned out to support the club at the Ranelagh Gaels Golf Classic at Stackstown Golf Club.

The course was in great condition and we were delighted to have Ranelagh Gaels President Liam O’Hagan seeing off all the teams from the first tee box, despite a recent bout appendicitis. That man is tough as teak.

While the weather was mild the competition was fierce , and only three points separated the top three teams. The overall winner was Frank Smyth’s team , with Sean McCrave, Paddy Costello and Paul Ferry taking the tough course in their stride.

The team of Ben Gleeson and Kevin O’Neill teams took the respective podium positions following up on their strong performance last year. Our Chair Peter Sweeney was on hand to thank all and present the very generous prizes.

Along with our golfers we had plenty of sponsors on the day with Barry Darmody’s ENKI the main sponsor of the tee boxes .

We would like to thank the following for their support on the day and help raise essential funding for the club: Rathgar Auto Repair, Capital Options, The Panel, the Banks family, Johnny Farrelly Motors, The Grave Diggers, The Bijou, House, Tyler & Owen, Wisemugs, Cormac O’Beirne , Smyth’s of Ranelagh, Lindar Motors , Willie banks , Institute of Education Leeson Street , Medipharm, Derek Doyle , Jon Banks , Rathmines Sports Shop , James Barry Motors Limerick and InCol.

All the money raised is going to a great cause – your local GAA club . We look forward to our renewal next year with our friends in Stackstown Golf Course.

The club also owes a debt of gratitude to organisers Stuart Banks and Frank Wall . Without them this couldn’t have taken place and everyone connect with Ranelagh Gaels very much appreciates their efforts.
